In theory, a merger of equals is when two firms of about the same size come together to form a single new company. The integration plan likely contemplates a synergy pickup in revenue and profit. However, it’s rare, if not impossible, to “equally” mix the culture, leadership teams, and strategy of two companies. Most mergers, even friendly ones, are in fact the acquisition of one company by another. Regardless, how companies combine - clarity (of purpose and direction), communication (of who is really in charge and what the plan is) and culture (how the two companies will align the complimentary parts of their cultures and build upon this to create the NEW one) is more critical than ever. Join me this week as real-world entrepreneurs open up about their recent marriage and share their story of making
1 + 1 = 3.
